ATHLETIC MISSION

In conjunction with our school mission, the Archbishop Carroll Athletic Program’s mission is to model, develop, and empower our athletes through athletics to think critically, creatively, and morally, daily so that we can serve God with purpose. Therefore, we strive to Know, Love, and Serve God and one another through athletics daily while contributing positively academically and socially as ambassadors through sports.

 

ATHLETIC PHILOSOPHY

Athletics are an integral part of the educational program at Archbishop Carroll High School.  

with other aspects of the school, the athletic program reflects, supports, and strives to achieve the mission of the school.  The athletic program at Archbishop Carroll seeks to assist 

participants in developing:

  • Confidence, positive self-esteem, and moral character.
  • The social skills to effectively interact and cooperate with others.
  • Self-discipline, sound work habits, and perseverance.
  • An understanding of commitment, responsibility, and loyalty.
  • An ability to control emotions and display good sportsmanship.
  • An ability to keep sports competition and associated activities in proper Christian perspective. Therefore, we strive to Know, Love, and Serve God and one another through athletics daily while contributing positively academically and socially as ambassadors through sports.

Kenneth J. Lucas

Athletic Director

High-performing, award-winning, successful Football Coach and Athletic Administrator with 30-plus years of proven success and experience.

 

Shortly after accepting his role as Head Football Coach and Co-Director of Student Life at Bishop O’Connell, Kenneth Lucas was offered a coaching position with the Pittsburgh Steelers as part of the NFL’s Bill Walsh Coaching Fellowship Program. He spent time with the Steelers during the summer of 2019 where he experienced the NFL first-hand.  He appreciates and cherishes his time there as a valuable learning experience.

 

Lucas earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1988 from the University of Delaware, where he was a three-year letterman for the Blue Hens and was named an Associated Press All-American 1986-1987. Lucas also received multiple in-season and postseason accolades such as Rookie of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week (several times) all-conference defensive back, and Division I-AA All-American in 1986, to name a few. While at Delaware, Lucas was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes for Outreach.  He also volunteered regularly with Special Olympics.

 

From 1995-96, Coach Lucas was the Head football coach at Archbishop Carroll High School. In addition to his coaching duties, he also served as the school's Director of Alumni Affairs and Coordinator of Development. Lucas had previously served as an assistant coach at Carroll from June 1989 until November 1990.

 

 

Lindsey Baylor

Assistant Athletic Director

 

Ms. Baylor holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation and Leisure Administration, and a Master's Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. She has over twenty years of athletic experience from coaching, running clinics, recruitment, creating leagues, directing tournaments, and administration. She most recently coached at Stevenson University as a Head Club Softball Coach and went to the World Series in her second year. To say athletics is a passion of hers is an understatement.
