Girls Soccer

Ms. Gladys Corea was born in Los Angeles, California to Salvadoran parents. She was raised in Northern Virginia for most of her life. She graduated from Annandale High School where she played JV/Varsity girls soccer and attended a Criminal Justice academy during her junior and senior years.

 

Upon graduation, Ms. Corea attended Northern Virginia Community College and studied Administration of Justice before entering the workforce. During this transition, she worked with at-risk students (grades 6-12) at the Cardozo Education Campus as an AmeriCorps member for City Year and started the first girls’ varsity soccer team. She then became a preschool teacher all while coaching various soccer teams for Annandale Boys and Girls Club.

 

Ms. Corea worked with the City of Alexandria Police Department and Sheriff’s Office for five years. Currently, she works with the Supervisory Safety and Security Staff at Archbishop Carroll High School.  She also coaches the girls’ soccer team. Ms. Corea continues to coach at a recreational level as well as plays soccer in outdoor/indoor coed leagues.
