Young Alumni Return Day and IB Banquet Bring Alumni and Former Teachers Back to Carroll

During YARD, alumni who graduated within the last four years came back to school to share their experiences with current students — providing real-world perspectives on the joys and challenges of college life. Alumni who participated this year attend colleges and universities throughout the country, including Stevenson, Loyola, Morehouse, Temple, St. Augustine, Hood, Penn State, and North Carolina A&T, among others.

This is our ninth year of hosting Young Alumni Return Day. It is impactful for two reasons: students get to hear from young adults who have made successful transitions to college, and alumni stay connected to the school in ways that build upon our tradition of service.

Alumni also joined in celebrating our students during our inaugural IB Banquet, which recognized 32 current students who successfully completed IB coursework. Carroll grads Kyla Butler, ’12, a chemical engineering major at Syracuse; Simone Royster, ’11, studying biology at UMBC, and Domonique Williams ’12, majoring in chemistry at Stevenson, shared practical advice and appreciation for their IB and student experiences at Carroll. All three indicated that IB helped expand their horizons.

Events like these foster "aha" moments that arise when current students connect with alumni. We couldn't be more proud of our alumni for sharing their time and offering valuable perspectives to students.
