Father Mudd Honored as Clergy of the Year

The CBN-DC annually honors one Catholic Business Person, and one clergy or religious leader. This year, the nominating committee looked for someone who truly impacted the community and was well loved. Jason Silver, who sits on the CBN-DC Board of Directors, said that Fr. Mudd's name "quickly rose to the top of the list," of potential honorees. Silver then explained how Fr. Mudd's generous spirit and dedication to the Catholic community assisted in the launch of CBN-DC.

As Silver was conceptualizing the plan to launch CBN-DC, Carroll President/CEO, Beth Blaufuss, insisted that she introduce him to Fr. Mudd over lunch. After sharing his vision of who CBN-DC would impact, Fr. Mudd quickly extended his list of contacts. "He pulled out his phone and told me to call certain people and to be sure I told them HE told me to call. One of those contacts is still a [CBN-DC] sponsor to this day." Fr. Mudd believed in the vision of CBN to, "apply the teachings of the Catholic faith in the marketplace while also providing support to the Church's mission by providing merit-and need-based scholarships to elementary and high school students." Years later, the network continues to grow and embody the mission.

The Carroll community is blessed to have Fr. Mudd as an alumus and advocate for our students. CBN-DC noted that since Fr. Mudd's return to Carroll in 1990, "His contributions enabled thousands of young men and women with significant financial needs to obtain a college preparatory education. Father left an indelible mark on both the school and students."

The 4th Annual Gala will be held on Thursday, October 5 at the Four Seasons. You can RSVP to support Fr. Mudd at www.cbndc.org/gala by purchasing tickets for the event. All business owners who become sponsors, also have the opportunity to select a school to benefit from their sponsorship.
