A true freshman, Willis took home the gold in the 200m dash (20.10s) and was out-leaned in a close finish to earn bronze in his 100m dash (10.05). Willis participated in two relay races. He took off from the blocks as the first leg for the 4x400-meter relay team that received a gold medal with a time of 3:04:60. He also anchored the 4x100m relay that finished in second place with a time of 39.75.
