Admission Procedures

Archbishop Carroll High School does not discriminate on the basis or race, color, national or ethic origin in the administration of its education and admission policies, scholarship or financial aid programs, and athletic or other school administered programs.

Students applying from Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington:

1. Applicants must select Carroll on the Archdiocesan Choice Form to have their complete transcript forwarded to Carroll.
2. Applicants must complete a Carroll admissions application (available on this site) and submit it to the school with a $25.00 application fee.
3. The Archbishop Carroll Admissions Committee reviews each applicant's test scores, transcript and recommendations from the elementary school.
4. An interview is required of all applicants.

Students applying from non-Catholic schools:

1. Applicants must complete a Carroll admissions application (available on this site) and submit it to the school with a $25.00 application fee.
2. Applicants must make arrangements with the Catholic Schools Office (Archdiocese of Washington) to take the Entrance Examination Test (HSPT).
3. Applicants must submit results from the entrance exam. Parents must request the applicant's middle school to send a complete transcript and standardized test scores from the past two years.
4. Three recommendations are required: from a current school administrator or counselor, from the current Math teacher, and from the current English teacher.
5. An interview is required of all applicants.

An application will not be considered unless all of the above items, including application fee, have been received by the Admissions Office (Please, make check payable to Archbishop Carroll High School).

Contact Archbishop Carroll High School by telephone (202-529-0900 x134) or by mail (Archbishop Carroll High School, 4300 Harewood Road, NE, Washington, D.C., 20017) to obtain an application and a registration form for the admissions test. This test is scheduled several times this fall, at various locations. The student and family must ensure that Carroll receives all other information.

Applications received after January 19th will be considered on an individual basis.

•   Only complete applications are considered.
•   Preference for financial aid is given in the order received.
•   Once Archbishop Carroll reviews your records, an appointment for an interview will be arranged. Criteria for acceptance include standardized test scores, the student's course grades, recommendations from the student's principal and teachers, and an interview.
•   Notice of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent out on February 25 for applications received by deadline.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition for 2010-2011 is $10,035. Additionally, incidental costs are billed but are not included in the cost of tuition at an estimated total of $700. Books and uniforms are purchased by parents from third party vendors.

Academic and music scholarships are available to qualified candidates.

Financial assistance through the Archdiocese of Washington is available. The deadline for applying for financial assistance through the Archdiocese of Washington is in December for the following school year.
