Juan Gallastegui

Mr. Gallastegui joined the faculty in 2016 and is the chair of the Foreign Language Department. He comes to us from New York, and prior to that, the University of La Rioja in Spain. He is a great asset to our I.B. Spanish program as well as the Native Speakers track. In addition, his wealth experience in conducting and orchestral music is an added benefit to our community.

Outside of his work at Carroll, Mr. Gallastegui is a professional musician, music conductor and music scholar. He earned a B.A. in Musicology from the University of La Rioja (Spain), a B.M. in Tuba Performance and Tuba Teaching from the Navarre Conservatory of Music (Spain). He also obtained a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Cantabria (Spain) and an M.M. in Orchestral Conducting from Bard College of Music. Currently he is completing a Ph.D. in Music History from the University of La Rioja (Spain).
