The 62nd Graduating Class of Archbishop Carroll

There were many special moments at graduation—from the remarks, to the presenting of the diplomas, to the turning of the tassels. This year’s commencement speaker was D.C. Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie. His words of encouragement were a gift to our graduates, as were the inspiring reflections from Valedictorian Thricia Santiago and Salutatorian Dionna Thompson.

Commencement is the culmination of four years of hard work, dedication, sacrifice and growth for students. More than the conferring of a diploma, the ceremony celebrates an important milestone in a student’s life and symbolically marks the occasion upon which he or she ventures into adulthood.

In a fitting tribute following the ceremony, faculty and staff lined the steps outside of the Basilica to cheer and welcome the Class of 2016 into Carroll's illustrious alumni community.
